After my PhD at the Vrije Universiteit in 1997, I continued my research at the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital in Utrecht. In 2002, I moved to Genmab and worked at the department of Scientific Communication for 12 years. Here I gained expertise in developing infographics and corporate art work, in designing covers for scientific journals and in producing Genmab’s corporate movies and technology websites. From 2010, I further specialized in early marketing communication strategies and completed one year of MBA. In 2013, I decided to combine my scientific background, graphic skills and marketing knowledge and start my own business – SCICOMVISUALS. My office opened back in January 2014, and has since attracted interest from many different companies and institutes.
From November 2019 I combine this work with a lectureship at the Technical University (TU) Delft. Together with Martijn van Overbruggen, Dirma Janse and Maarten van der Sanden, we have developed a module for Master students who want to improve their skills in science visualization, called Science Vision. This module is part of TU Delfts’ unique Master’s programme Science Education and Communication (SEC).
